One of the most important pieces of advice concerning used vehicles is their condition. No two owners maintain their vehicles in the same way. Some are religious about oil changes, transmission services and brake inspections. Others have no idea what any of the preceding terms even mean, let alone actually doing them but most owners are somewhere in between. The problem arises when you need to know which kind of owner owns the vehicle you want to buy. In addition to maintenance, you need to be concerned about previous body damage, flood damage or lingering service problems. For these reasons, a comprehensive inspection of any used vehicle you are seriously considering for purchase is a necessity. It’s the last line of defense before you make a final decision.
As you can see by our “Vehicle Inspection Check List” we cover the majority of the vehicles systems. This is a visual inspection, meaning we do not disassemble anything on or within the vehicle.
Following our inspection we will provide an estimate on all the areas we’ve determined need attention. This can range from a simple brake light bulb replacement to a transmission rebuild and everything in between.
Typically the owner schedules the appointment and arranges to drop the vehicle off at our shop. Once the inspection is completed we call the current owner letting them know the vehicle is ready to be picked up.
Once the inspection and estimates (if required) are completed the perspective buyer is notified to receive payment on review our findings. If this is done in person we will review the check sheet with you and answer any questions you might have. We will not provide the current owner with a copy of the Vehicle Inspection Check List until payment is made and the perspective buyer asks us to do so. Since the perspective buyer is is paying they are our customer.
This information provides the perspective buyer with a detailed snap shop of the vehicles overall condition arming them with the necessary information to negotiate appropriately.
